Construction of a new electronics production facility
As one of the world’s leading EMS providers (Electronic Manufacturing Services), Zollner Elektronik AG is continuing its expansion in the US market: by building a full-service electronics production center (NPI, serial production for electronic printed circuit boards, modules, and devices) in small to medium volumes. The new plant is located in the city of Milpitas in Silicon Valley (California) and joins the distribution location and partnership with EIT, LLC in Sterling (Virginia), which has been in existence since 2009.
The Zollner production site was established for the purpose of providing North American customers with the comprehensive offerings of Zollner Elektronik AG on site and to give them better access to the production advantages of the European, Asian, and North African Zollner locations.
This site meets regional and domestic requirements and expands Zollner’s North American portfolio with services and options for local OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). The main arguments here are “local for local” and for the selection of the optimal location for the specific product based on a consideration of overall costs (“best cost country”).
With its location in Northern California, the Milpitas facility provides easy access to the major airports San Francisco International Airport and Mineta San José International Airport, and offers expanded services for Zollner customers with a focus on providing improved technical support on site and on shortening time-to-market for new products. This production site, headed by CEO Markus Aschenbrenner, expands the technical resources that are available to customers and provides OEMs in the United States with the important opportunity to benefit from the more than 45 years of experience and the superior services of a leading global EMS provider.
